Anti-Aging Tips

Forget about Botox, fillers and risky surgery to make you look younger. Look to some special supplements, sufficient hydration and proper nourishment for your body to reverse signs of aging.

MSM is a wonderful amino acid that helps to nourish hair, skin and nails. Vitamin C is wonderful for repairing and renewing tissues and is essential in the formation of collagen, which keeps the skin firm. It is also a wonderful antioxidant and anything that removes toxins from the body is good and you can't help but look and feel better.
Another obvious way to look and feel younger is to do sufficient exercise…although it has been shown that exercising too much can have the opposite effect by causing too much stress on the body and causing an increase in cortisol production, which isn’t a good thing. Bending over and touching the toes and staying in that position for a little while sends blood rushing to the face nourishing it and relaxing the muscles, this is good for the hair and brain also. You can also sit and do the same thing if you can't bend over too much when standing.

Just a few little additions and changes in your lifestyle can make a difference in your appearance and outlook. The natural way is always the best way.

Simple Ways to Strengthen Your Immune System

To function well, our immune system depends on us taking good care of ourselves, for instance, getting enough rest, eating nutritious foods, drinking enough water and getting daily moderate exercise. But there are more ways to strengthen our immune system and keep us from being susceptible to the colds and flu bugs that are around at this time of year.

Taking a good multivitamin supplement daily is a good idea, plus Vitamin C is an excellent immune system booster, as is Vitamin D, which helps the body produce germ-killing proteins. Vitamin E is an antioxidant also and works well when taken in conjunction with Vitamin C.

Acetyl L-Carnitine seems to enhance the immune system and protect the body from oxidative stress.

Washing the hands frequently to get rid of germs limits the amount of work the immune system has to perform, so is a good habit to get into and laughter increases immune cells and infection fighting antibodies.

All in all, being good to ourselves is the best way to keep illness at bay.

General Detox and Daily Nutrition

In this world we live in we are constantly bombarded with unseen threats to our health and wellbeing, namely, toxins. Unfortunately, they are everywhere we are. Every breath we take, the water we drink, the food we eat and what we put on our skin. Amazingly though, every second our bodies are fighting to keep us well and free from disease, and it is up to us to help and not hinder this natural process of detoxification.

Some of the ways to help your body to get rid of these toxins is to strengthen your immune system. The immune system is the key to fighting every insult to the body, from a shaving nick to a deadly virus, so support it. Some nutrients vital to immune health are Vitamin A, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, CoQ10, Vitamin E, Zinc and Essential Fatty Acids.

Fiber removes, not only fat from the colon, but also unwanted heavy metals and toxins, so having a diet with sufficient fiber is important. However, if that isn’t possible, taking a fiber supplement is a good idea.

It is no longer enough just to eat what we consider to be a healthy diet, because nowadays so much of the food we buy has been grown in depleted soil, consequently it lacks much of the nutrients that it would normally contain. So it is more important than ever to include multivitamin and mineral supplements in your daily regime to keep your body strong and energetic.

The liver needs to be kept healthy and able to detoxify what we put into our bodies and a Milk Thistle supplement can help to cleanse and repair this vital organ.

Needless to say, drinking enough good quality water will keep everything in your body running smoothly and working efficiently.

Brain Health

Trying to stay sharp and mentally young can be a challenge, but vitally important as we age. No one wants to succumb to the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s or dementia, so keeping the brain healthy should be just as important as keeping the rest of the body physically fit.

There is a lot we can do in this regard, apart from doing crossword puzzles, learning new activities, reading, exercising and having a nutritious diet. For instance, taking certain cognitive supplements that benefit brain health makes sense, such as Ginkgo Biloba. This herb has powerful antioxidant effects on the brain and can improve both long and short term memory. Omega 3 fatty acids can help the brain by aiding in the connection of brain cells and Vitamin C and E have been shown to aid in cognitive function and also protect against dementia.

Consequently, just some small additions to our diet will greatly benefit us in the long run. Also, it seems there is good news for coffee and tea drinkers, in that caffeine has been shown to reduce inflammation in the brain and can also help ward of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
